A Small Stone Urn That Pours Light Down the Wall
The shape comes from old storage jars: a rounded body, a flat top and a rope handle. Here the body is carved from yellow travertine and a thick hemp rope loops across the front. The light sits inside and shines down through the open base, so the stone stays calm and a soft cone of light falls onto the wall and whatever sits below. At 6.3 inches across it suits a narrow wall, a reading nook or a spot above a small shelf. It is sold as a left or a right piece, so two can mirror each other.
