The base is one piece. A single block of solid wood is turned as an hourglass, a broad foot narrowing to a waist and flaring open again at the top, and the cloth shade sits directly on that flare with no visible hardware between them. Because it is turned rather than assembled, the grain runs continuously from the foot through the waist to the neck, so what you see is one curve rather than a stack of parts, and no two bases carry the same figure. The shade is a plain empire in cloth, and its top cover lifts off: with the cover on the light is contained and falls downward over a desk or a chair, and with it removed the same lamp washes the ceiling and becomes a soft column of general light. What does the removable top cover do?

It opens the shade upward. With the cover on, the cloth sends the light down and out in a contained pool, which is what you want over a desk or beside a chair. Lift it off and the light also escapes straight up, washing the ceiling and turning the same lamp into a soft column of general light.

Which size should I choose?

The small is 33 cm across and 59 cm tall, a nightstand and side table size. The large is 41 x 74 cm, which is console and corner height: the top of the shade clears head height for anyone seated. Measure the surface depth before taking the large one.

Is the base really one piece?

Yes, turned from a single block of solid wood, which is why the grain runs continuously from the foot through the waist to the flare at the top and why no two bases look the same. The shade sits directly on the flare with no visible hardware between them.

How does the rotary switch work?

How do I clean it?

Dust the cloth shade with a soft brush or a dry cloth. Wipe the wood with a barely damp cloth, following the grain, and dry it straight afterwards. The waist of the hourglass is the part that collects dust and gets missed, so work around it deliberately.

How do I return an item?

You have 30 days from the date you receive your order to request a return on eligible items. To start, email us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and the reason for the return, and we will send you the return address and instructions. Items must be unused and in their original packaging.

Do I have to pay for return shipping?

No. On approved returns, we provide a prepaid return shipping label at no cost to you. Please note that a return should never be sent to the manufacturer's address; only to the address our team provides.

I received a damaged or defective item. What should I do?

We are sorry to hear that. If a parcel arrives visibly damaged, please refuse delivery if you can, then contact us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and a photo of the item. We will prioritise your request and arrange a replacement or refund in line with our Refund Policy.

Can I change my mind after ordering?
