The Ring Sits Around the Lamp Rather Than Over It, and Nothing Is Hidden

A shade does two things: it spreads the light and it hides the lamp. This fitting keeps the first job and abandons the second. A flat clear ring is set horizontally around the lamp, so light passing through it catches the cut edge and draws a thin bright circle in the air, while the lamp itself stays completely visible above and below. That leaves the filament as the thing you look at, which is why the lamp you choose matters more here than on a shaded sconce. The same logic runs through the rest of the piece: one screw shows on the wood backplate, the brass collar is a collar and not a cover, and the short arm is simply an arm. Nothing is concealed because nothing was meant to be.

What does the clear ring actually do?

It gives the light a horizontal plane to catch. Rather than enclosing the lamp, the flat ring sits around it and picks up a thin bright line at its edge, so the fitting reads as a lamp with a halo rather than as a lamp behind a shade. The lamp stays fully visible, which is the point.

Is the lamp exposed?

Yes. There is no enclosed shade, so whatever lamp you fit is part of what you look at. A clear filament lamp is the one the photographs use and the one the shape was drawn around. A frosted lamp softens the glare if the fitting sits at eye level.

Which of the two models has the chain?

That is the one thing we are checking. The options list Model A and Model B at the same size and the same price, and the photography shows one build with a pull chain hanging under the collar and one without.

Which lamp should I use?

An E26 or E27 lamp, not included. A warm 2700K filament lamp suits the wood and the brass and shows the way the photographs do. Keep to a modest wattage, since nothing shades the lamp from the room.

Is the ring glass?

The detail table names acrylic rather than glass, so we describe a flat clear ring and make no glass claim. It is thin, flat and colorless, and it is set around the lamp rather than under it.

How do I clean it?

Let the lamp cool. Wipe the clear ring with a barely damp cloth and dry it, keeping solvents away from it. Buff the brass dry rather than polishing it, since polish collects around the collar, and wipe the wood along the grain.

Industrial styling usually arrives as black steel and a cage, and it can look like a costume. This piece gets there through materials instead. How do I return an item?

You have 30 days from the date you receive your order to request a return on eligible items. To start, email us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and the reason for the return, and we will send you the return address and instructions. Items must be unused and in their original packaging.

Do I have to pay for return shipping?

No. On approved returns, we provide a prepaid return shipping label at no cost to you. Please note that a return should never be sent to the manufacturer's address; only to the address our team provides.

I received a damaged or defective item. What should I do?

We are sorry to hear that. If a parcel arrives visibly damaged, please refuse delivery if you can, then contact us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and a photo of the item. We will prioritise your request and arrange a replacement or refund in line with our Refund Policy.

Can I change my mind after ordering?
