The Bowl Faces the Room, So the Stone Itself Becomes the Reflector Here

Turn a hemisphere of stone around and it stops being a shade and starts being a reflector. That is the whole move here. The travertine is hollowed out and mounted with its open face to the room, the small white diffuser sits deep at the center, and what leaves the fitting has bounced off the inside of the bowl on its way out. The light arrives warm because the stone is warm, softened because the surface is matte and pitted, and without a visible source because the diffuser is set back behind the rim. Unlit, the same shape reads as a piece of carved stone on a wood plate, which is why the fitting does not look like hardware waiting for the evening.

Where does the light go?

Outward and around, not down. The diffuser sits at the center of the bowl and the stone reflects what hits it back into the room, so you get a soft wash with no visible source from any normal angle. It is ambient light rather than something to read by.

Is it bright enough on its own?

For a hallway or an accent beside furniture, yes. For a whole room, no. A single G9 lamp behind a small diffuser is a modest output, which is why two or three of these together is the usual arrangement.

Which lamp does it take?

A G9 lamp, not included. That is a small two pin capsule rather than a screw base, so an E26 or E27 bulb will not fit. A warm 2700K to 3000K capsule keeps the travertine honey instead of gray.

How small is it really?

Dia 15 x H 11 cm, so about the footprint of a side plate and standing barely more than a hand's width off the wall. That is what lets it go in a row along a corridor or in a pair either side of a bed without crowding anything.

Will the stone match the photographs?

Close, not identical. Travertine forms with voids and bands of color, so the pitting inside the bowl differs from piece to piece. Order a pair together if you want them as close as possible.

How do I clean it?

Let the lamp cool. Dust the travertine dry and lift marks with a barely damp cloth, drying at once, and keep acidic cleaners off the stone. Wipe the wood plate along the grain.

One on its own in the middle of a wall does very little. Two either side of a bed, a run of three above a bench, a pair flanking a dining table, and the same piece becomes a rhythm across the plaster. The size is also what lets it work where a shaded sconce cannot, in a corridor at shoulder height or on the narrow band above a headboard. Budget for a pair rather than a single and the fitting does what it was drawn to do.

Returns and Refunds

How do I return an item?

You have 30 days from the date you receive your order to request a return on eligible items. To start, email us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and the reason for the return, and we will send you the return address and instructions. Items must be unused and in their original packaging.

Do I have to pay for return shipping?

No. On approved returns, we provide a prepaid return shipping label at no cost to you. Please note that a return should never be sent to the manufacturer's address; only to the address our team provides.

I received a damaged or defective item. What should I do?

We are sorry to hear that. If a parcel arrives visibly damaged, please refuse delivery if you can, then contact us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and a photo of the item. We will prioritise your request and arrange a replacement or refund in line with our Refund Policy.

Can I change my mind after ordering?

Yes. If you change your mind within 24 hours of placing your order, before it has been processed, we will refund you right away. After an order has shipped, please follow the standard return process described above.
