An E14 Lamp Instead of a Sealed Strip, Which Hands the Light Color Back to You

Almost every bar in this range arrives with its LED built in, which means the color temperature was decided in a factory and cannot be changed without replacing the fitting. This one keeps a lamp holder. That is a real difference above artwork, because the right color depends on what is hanging there: warm 2700K holds the reds and ochres of an oil painting and of a wood frame, while a neutral 3500K to 4000K reads truer on pencil, on a black and white photograph and on a cool toned print. With a holder you can try one, look at the wall, and change it for the price of a lamp. It also means the fitting outlives its light source rather than dying with it, which over ten or fifteen years is the difference between a repair and a replacement.

Questions about this product

Everything you need to know about this product.

Which lamp should I fit?

An E14 lamp, not included. A warm 2700K to 3000K LED lamp holds the copper warm and suits a drawing, an oil or a wood frame. A 3500K to 4000K lamp reads truer on a black and white photograph. Keep the wattage modest, since the hood is small and a large lamp will not sit inside it.

Why is a replaceable lamp worth having?

Three reasons. You choose the color rather than accepting the factory setting. You can change your mind later, which you cannot do with a sealed strip. And when the lamp fails in a decade the fitting stays on the wall. The trade is that an E14 lamp is a small point of light rather than an even strip, so the wash is slightly less uniform than an integrated LED gives.

Does the arm move?

The gooseneck is a fixed curve, so the aim is set by where you mount the plate. Measure the drop above the frame or the mirror before drilling.

Is it really copper?

The finish is copper on the body and the shade, over a metal and brass structure. The color you see is copper and the metal underneath it is not, which matters only if you plan to strip or polish it.

Can it go above a bathroom mirror?

On a dry wall above the mirror, yes, and most of the photography shows it there. IP20 means no water protection, so keep it clear of the shower and of spray.

How do I clean copper?

Switch off and let the lamp cool. Dust dry, and lift marks with a barely damp cloth, drying at once. Copper cleaners and abrasives will cut a plated finish, so keep them away from it.

Copper Is a Warmer Metal Than Brass, So It Wants Rattan, Plaster and Wood Around It

Copper and brass are not interchangeable, even though they read as the same family at a glance. Copper is pinker and softer, and it turns toward brown rather than toward yellow as the light falls off. Beside polished chrome or brushed steel it looks out of place, and beside bright brass it looks like a mistake rather than a mix. The other thing copper does is flatter skin, which is why this shape has survived above dressing table mirrors for a century. If the room already has one warm metal, this is the fitting that joins it rather than arguing with it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Shipping & Delivery

How much does shipping cost?

Shipping is free on every order, with no minimum purchase. The price you see at checkout is the price you pay for delivery.

How long before my order ships?

Orders are typically processed within 1 to 2 business days after payment. We keep a short 24-hour window before processing so that you can adjust or cancel your order if you need to. Our team places orders with our warehouses Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays.

How long does delivery take?

Once your order has shipped, it is usually in transit for about 7 to 10 days. This is an estimate and can occasionally be longer depending on the destination country and the carrier handling your parcel.

How do I track my order?

As soon as your parcel ships, we send you an email containing a tracking link so you can follow its progress. If you do not see it, please check your Spam and Promotions folders.

I received a damaged or defective item. What should I do?

We are sorry to hear that. If a parcel arrives visibly damaged, please refuse delivery if you can, then contact us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and a photo of the item. We will prioritise your request and arrange a replacement or refund in line with our Refund Policy.
