Gold bar lit above a framed abstract print on a warm painted wall

A Bar That Pivots Puts the Light on the Picture Instead of on the Wall Above It

A fixed bar has one angle and the room has to live with it. This one turns at the yoke, which changes what the fitting is for. Over a mirror it sits level and throws light forward onto a face. Over a framed print it tips down so the beam clears the top of the frame and lands on the artwork rather than skimming the wall. The difference is obvious the moment you see the two settings side by side, and it is the reason a tilting bar suits a wall whose contents change: a print today, a mirror next year, the same fitting either way.

Questions about this product

Everything you need to know about this product.

How far does the bar tilt?

Far enough to matter. The yoke pivots where it grips the tube, so the beam can be set level for a mirror or tipped down for a picture. Set it once with the light on and the frame in place, because the angle that suits a tall print is not the one that suits a wide mirror.

Which build should I take, warm light or TRIAC dimmable?

Take the plain warm light if the circuit has an ordinary switch on it. Take the TRIAC build only if there is a TRIAC dimmer on the wall or one going in. A dimmable fitting on a plain switch simply runs at full output, and a plain fitting on a dimmer will flicker or buzz, which is the failure people write to us about.

What width of mirror or frame does 13.8 inches suit?

A frame or mirror between about 20 and 30 inches wide. Below that the bar starts to look oversized for the piece, above it the ends of the artwork fall away into shadow. Centering matters more than width: a bar set off center throws a bright side and a dim side that no one can unsee.

Does it need an electrician?

Yes. It is hardwired, which means a supply and a box behind the plate, with the switch on the wall rather than on the fitting. If the wall above the mirror has no box in it, a licensed electrician is the honest answer, and the plug in fittings in this range are the alternative.

Can it go in a bathroom?

Over a vanity on a dry wall, yes. The rating is IP20, which is no protection against water at all, so keep the bar above the mirror line and well clear of the shower and of direct spray. Wipe condensation off rather than letting it sit on the finish.

Is the brass solid or a finish?

A finish on metal. It reads as warm brass in a room, it is lighter to hang than solid brass would be, and it should be cleaned as a finish: dry cloth, no polish, no abrasives.

Three Finishes at One Price, So the Choice Is About the Room and Not the Budget

Brass, bronze and black cost the same here, which means the decision is purely visual. Brass warms a pale wall and picks up gold frames, gilt mirrors and unlacquered taps. Bronze is the quieter version of the same idea and disappears against a warm wall. Black reads as hardware rather than jewelry and suits a room where the fittings, the frames and the tapware are already dark. Look at what is on the wall first, then at what is on the vanity, and take the finish that repeats something already in the room.

Frequently Asked Questions

Shipping & Delivery

How much does shipping cost?

Shipping is free on every order, with no minimum purchase. The price you see at checkout is the price you pay for delivery.

How long before my order ships?

Orders are typically processed within 1 to 2 business days after payment. We keep a short 24-hour window before processing so that you can adjust or cancel your order if you need to. Our team places orders with our warehouses Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays.

How long does delivery take?

Once your order has shipped, it is usually in transit for about 7 to 10 days. This is an estimate and can occasionally be longer depending on the destination country and the carrier handling your parcel.

How do I track my order?

As soon as your parcel ships, we send you an email containing a tracking link so you can follow its progress. If you do not see it, please check your Spam and Promotions folders.

I received a damaged or defective item. What should I do?

We are sorry to hear that. If a parcel arrives visibly damaged, please refuse delivery if you can, then contact us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and a photo of the item. We will prioritise your request and arrange a replacement or refund in line with our Refund Policy.
