A frosted dome on a ceiling is one of the quietest shapes in lighting, and also one of the most anonymous. Putting a brass cage over it changes what the eye reads. The scalloped band runs around the rim in a wave, the curved ribs cross the underside and meet at a small brass finial, and the glass sits behind all of it. Lit, the ribs throw fine shadow lines across the glow and the pierced band lets light out sideways at the ceiling. Unlit, the fixture reads as brass work rather than as a white disc, which is the difference that matters in a room where the light spends most of the day switched off.

How many bulbs does each size take?

Three in the 36 cm version and four in the 45 cm version, on E26 or E27 bases, which are the standard medium screw fittings in North America and Europe. The maker lists LED and Edison bulbs as suitable and does not supply any, so the output and the color temperature are chosen separately.

What is the scalloped band at the top?

A pierced brass ring that follows the rim of the fixture in a wave rather than a straight line. It carries the glass and it lets a thin line of light out sideways where the fixture meets the plaster, which stops the piece from reading as a solid block on a pale ceiling.

Is the glass clear?

No, the shade finish is white. Frosted glass hides the bulbs from the floor and spreads the output across the whole dome instead of leaving three or four bright points. That matters on a flush mount, where the fixture sits in the line of sight from most of the room.

How much ceiling does it need?

14.2 in or 36 cm for the smaller version, 17.7 in or 45 cm for the larger, with 7.1 in and 7.9 in of depth. Both are mounted straight to a ceiling box, so the only clearance that matters is the width of the flat area around the box.

Can it be used in a bathroom?

No. The maker rates it IP20, damp rated and not waterproof, for indoor use only. That rules out a bathroom, a shower room and a laundry where steam reaches the ceiling. A bedroom, a hallway, a living room or a dining room is the right kind of dry space for it.

What switch does it need?

It is hardwired and works with common push switches, which are not included. The switch belongs on the wall, controlling the supply to the fixture, rather than on the fixture itself. A licensed electrician should make the connection with the breaker off.

An integrated LED fixture decides the color and the output of the light at the factory, and when the module fails the fixture goes with it. This one uses E26 or E27 screw sockets, three in the smaller size and four in the larger. That means a warm filament bulb for a bedroom, a brighter neutral LED over a dining table, or a dimmable set wired to a wall dimmer, all from the same fixture. It also means the fixture outlives any single bulb. The maker supplies no bulbs, so the first set is bought with the fixture, and frosted glass hides whatever shape you choose.

Returns and Refunds

How do I return an item?

You have 30 days from the date you receive your order to request a return on eligible items. To start, email us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and the reason for the return, and we will send you the return address and instructions. Items must be unused and in their original packaging.

Do I have to pay for return shipping?

No. On approved returns, we provide a prepaid return shipping label at no cost to you. Please note that a return should never be sent to the manufacturer's address; only to the address our team provides.

I received a damaged or defective item. What should I do?

We are sorry to hear that. If a parcel arrives visibly damaged, please refuse delivery if you can, then contact us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and a photo of the item. We will prioritise your request and arrange a replacement or refund in line with our Refund Policy.

Can I change my mind after ordering?

Yes. If you change your mind within 24 hours of placing your order, before it has been processed, we will refund you right away. After an order has shipped, please follow the standard return process described above.
