Stacked Wood Contours Across a Lit Disc
A dark ring holds a white disc, and across the lower half of that disc sit stacked layers of wood cut as contours, each one stepping forward of the last. Lit from behind, the disc glows and the layers read as a raised relief with real shadow between them, which is why the piece works as wall art that happens to give light. It is large at Dia 64 cm, so it takes an open wall and becomes the thing you look at. Three finishes for the relief, a pale wood, a walnut and a black. The LED is integrated at a warm 3000K, so there is no lamp to buy and nothing to change.
