This fitting is finished in antique white over carved wood, and the finish is worked back on the raised edges so the grain and the tool marks show through. That is deliberate. Two things follow for care. Dust it dry, because a damp cloth used weekly will slowly polish the high points and flatten the effect. Is the frame real wood?

Yes. The carved arms and the centerpost are wood, shaped by cutting, sanding and polishing. The chain, the canopy and the sockets are metal, which is what carries the weight.

Why is it so heavy for its size?

At 16 kg for a 50 cm fitting, most of the weight is solid carved wood plus an iron core. Check that your ceiling box is rated for it and treat the install as a two person job, not a step ladder job alone.

Which lamps does it take?

E14 candle lamps, six of them, max 15W each, not included. The lamps sit exposed inside the crown, so a flame tip or plain candle shape suits it. Warm white around 2700K keeps the antique white from turning blue.

Will the white finish chip?

The finish is deliberately distressed, so small marks read as part of it rather than as damage. Dust it dry. A damp cloth used often will polish the raised edges and even out the character you paid for.

Is 50 cm big enough for an entry hall?

For a standard hall or a small dining room, yes, and the 63 cm height gives it presence. For a two story entry, this will look lost; a taller fitting or a pair hung at different heights works better there.

How do I clean the carving?

A soft dry brush, working into the scrolls. Skip the water. Let the lamps cool before reaching into the crown, since the sockets sit close to the wood.

Sixteen Kilograms on a 50 Centimeter Frame, Which Changes How You Install It

Most chandeliers this size weigh three or four kilograms. This one weighs about sixteen, because the arms are solid carved wood on an iron core rather than pressed metal. Plan for it. Check that the ceiling junction box is rated for the load, not just the standard fitting weight, and have a second person hold while the first wires. It is also worth knowing before you buy a long chain: the longer the drop, the more leverage the weight puts on the box. If your ceiling is old plaster with an unknown box behind it, get that confirmed first.

How do I return an item?

You have 30 days from the date you receive your order to request a return on eligible items.
