The color of the shade is the whole design. Why an amber shade?

Because it warms the light itself. A white shade passes the color of the bulb through more or less unchanged; amber shifts it, so the pool on the table reads gold rather than white whatever bulb you fit. The shade also glows like a piece of resin when the lamp is on, which is half of the effect.

Is the shade glass?

It is acrylic with a glossy finish. Acrylic keeps the weight down on a slim wood stem and does not shatter if the lamp is knocked over. It scratches more easily than glass, so wipe it with a soft dry cloth and keep abrasive cleaners well away from it.

Where does the light go?

Down. The dome is closed over the top and open only underneath, so the output lands on the surface below in a contained warm pool rather than spreading across the room. That makes it a good bedside or side table lamp and a poor choice as the only light in a room.

Is a bulb included?

There is one E27 socket and the bulb is left to you, LED or Edison. Since the amber shade already warms the light, a neutral or warm white LED is plenty; a very warm Edison filament behind amber can push the color further orange than you may want.

The shade is already doing the warming, which changes how you choose a bulb. How do I return an item?

You have 30 days from the date you receive your order to request a return on eligible items. To start, email us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and the reason for the return, and we will send you the return address and instructions. Items must be unused and in their original packaging.
