Ribbing at the Rim, Which Turns a Plain Dome Into Something With Texture

A plain opal dome is a smooth wash of light and nothing more. These have fine ribs pressed into the glass near the rim, and lit they catch the light in a row of thin vertical lines around each dome. From below that reads as texture rather than pattern, which is enough to keep a very simple shape from looking bare, and it is what lets the fitting sit above a dark leather sofa without needing ornament anywhere else. The effect depends on the lamp. A frosted or plain LED lights the ribs evenly. A clear filament lamp puts a bright core behind them and flattens the effect out.

What does the ribbing do?

It breaks up the light at the rim. A plain opal dome gives a smooth glow; the ribs catch it in fine vertical lines, so the edge of each dome reads as texture rather than a flat band. It shows most when the fitting is lit.

Is the column real wood?

Yes. It is built from glass, wood and brass. The column is the wood part, in a dark tone that reads almost black against the brass. The arms and collars are brass finished.

How shallow is it?

33 cm from the canopy to the bottom of the domes, which is shallow for a fitting 60 to 83 cm across. It sits close to the ceiling and suits a room of eight or nine feet where a deeper chandelier would crowd the space.

Three lights or six?

60 cm against 63 cm, so almost the same footprint. The choice is density and output. Three leaves the brass arms visible as separate lines; six closes the ring into one object. Eight at 83 cm is the larger step.

Which lamps should I use?

E26 or E27, one per arm, not included. Opal glass hides the lamp completely, so a plain LED is fine. Warm white around 2700K keeps the glass ivory and stops the dark wood going flat.

Can the domes be removed?

Each dome lifts out of its brass collar once the lamps are cool. Wipe inside and out with a barely damp cloth and dry before refitting. They face up, so they gather dust faster than a downward shade.

Depth is the number that decides whether a chandelier works in an ordinary room, and this one is 33 cm from canopy to rim. Returns and Refunds

How do I return an item?

You have 30 days from the date you receive your order to request a return on eligible items. To start, email us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and the reason for the return, and we will send you the return address and instructions. Items must be unused and in their original packaging.

Do I have to pay for return shipping?

No. On approved returns, we provide a prepaid return shipping label at no cost to you. Please note that a return should never be sent to the manufacturer's address; only to the address our team provides.

I received a damaged or defective item. What should I do?

We are sorry to hear that. If a parcel arrives visibly damaged, please refuse delivery if you can, then contact us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and a photo of the item. We will prioritise your request and arrange a replacement or refund in line with our Refund Policy.

Can I change my mind after ordering?
