Dome Ceiling Light in Spun Aluminum with a Turned Wood Collar at the Top

One volume, two materials, and the balance between them is the whole design. The dome is spun aluminum finished in baking paint, so the curve is smooth and the outline stays clean from any angle; the collar where the cord enters is turned wood, and it is the only warm element on the piece. Take the wood away and the fixture reads as industrial. Because the shade is closed at the top, all the output goes down as a defined pool and nothing is thrown at the ceiling, which makes this a working light over a table or a counter rather than a fixture meant to fill a room. There is one size, 30 cm across and 25 cm deep, and two finishes that behave in opposite ways: black holds a hard silhouette against a pale wall, white sinks into it. The piece weighs 3 kg and hangs on a 150 cm cord.

Why is there a wood collar?

It is what keeps the piece warm. The dome itself is spun aluminum with a painted finish, which on its own reads as industrial; the turned wood at the top softens that and ties the fixture to the furniture in a room. It is also where the cord enters, so it does structural work as well as visual work.

Where does the light go?

Straight down. The shade is closed at the top, so there is no wash on the ceiling and no spill sideways: what you get is a defined pool under the fixture. That makes it a working light over a table or a counter, and a poor choice as the only light in a large living room.

Black or white?

Black holds a hard outline against a pale wall and becomes the object you notice first in the room. White sinks into a pale ceiling and lets the light do the work. The dome, the wood collar and the dimensions are identical in both, so the choice is only about how visible you want the fixture to be.

Can it be dimmed?

A push button switch operates the fixture and there is no dimmer built in, so the level is set by the lamp you fit. The socket is E27 with a maximum of 60W. If you want a dimmed level in the evening, wire the ceiling point to a wall dimmer and fit a dimmable LED lamp.

How long is the cord?

150 cm as supplied, and it can be extended on request, which matters in a room with a high ceiling or over a stairwell. For an ordinary ceiling the cord is shortened at installation, so decide the drop before the electrician leaves rather than after.

How do I clean it?

Wipe the dome with a soft dry cloth, and use a barely damp one for a mark on the painted surface, drying it straight afterwards. Avoid abrasive cleaners. Keep water off the wood collar. Switch the fixture off and let it cool first. This is an indoor fitting only.

Hanging the Dome Over a Table or a Counter, and Picking Black or White

This shade sends its light straight down, so where you hang it decides what it is good for. Over a dining table the bottom of the shade normally sits around 75 to 85 cm above the surface: high enough to keep the sight line open, low enough that the pool covers the plates. Over a kitchen counter it is usually taken a little higher, and a row of two or three at even spacing lights a long run better than one fixture in the middle. In a living room it works over a low table but will not light the room on its own, so plan a second source. The finish is the other decision: black makes the fixture the object you see first, white lets it disappear. The cord runs 150 cm and can be extended on request, the socket is E27 up to 60W, and a push button switch operates it, so it is not dimmable. Wipe the dome with a soft dry cloth. Indoor only.

Returns and Refunds

How do I return an item?

You have 30 days from the date you receive your order to request a return on eligible items. To start, email us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and the reason for the return, and we will send you the return address and instructions. Items must be unused and in their original packaging.

Do I have to pay for return shipping?

No. On approved returns, we provide a prepaid return shipping label at no cost to you. Please note that a return should never be sent to the manufacturer's address; only to the address our team provides.

I received a damaged or defective item. What should I do?

We are sorry to hear that. If a parcel arrives visibly damaged, please refuse delivery if you can, then contact us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and a photo of the item. We will prioritise your request and arrange a replacement or refund in line with our Refund Policy.

Can I change my mind after ordering?
