An open iron cage does not soften light, it frames it. That is the whole point of this kind of fitting and it puts the choice of lamp back in your hands. A clear Edison filament gives a warm, uneven glow with visible coils, which is what the brick and timber rooms in these photographs are asking for. A frosted filament lamp keeps the shape and drops the glare, which matters over a table where people sit facing each other for an hour. A plain opaque lamp kills the effect entirely. Whatever you fit, keep every head the same, because eight mismatched filaments read as a repair rather than a choice.

Does the beam come in one piece?

Yes. The crossbar is a single length of solid wood, 100 cm on the five light and 150 cm on the eight. The rope is already threaded and knotted. What you fit on site are the shades and the canopy, then the chain length.

Which lamps should I use?

E26 or E27, one per head, not included. An Edison style filament lamp is the honest choice here because the cage hides nothing. A warm white LED filament around 2700K gives the same look with less heat and less draw.

How high above the table should it hang?

30 to 36 inches from the tabletop to the bottom of the cages. The chain is about 50 cm and can be shortened. Below 30 inches the filaments sit in the eye line of anyone across the table.

Is the rope decorative or does it carry the weight?

Decorative on the shades, structural in feel only. The fitting hangs from two chains at the canopy, and each shade hangs on its own short chain inside the rope loop. The rope wraps the beam and dresses the drops.

Will the wood be the same as the photographs?

Close, not identical. The beam is natural timber, so grain and tone shift from one piece to the next. On a fitting this plain the grain is most of what you see.

How do I clean it?

Let the lamps cool. Dust the cages with a soft brush, since a cloth catches on the wire. Wipe the beam along the grain with a barely damp cloth and brush the rope dry, never wet.

One Long Beam Covers a Whole Table Where a Single Round Fitting Never Could

A round chandelier lights a circle. A dining table is a rectangle, and so is a kitchen island, which is why one central fixture so often leaves the two ends dim. The beam solves that by spreading its heads along the length instead of around a center point. At 100 cm the five light suits a table for four to six. At 150 cm the eight light covers a table for eight or a full island run. Measure your table first: the beam should stop about 15 cm short of each end, so the light reaches the place settings without the fitting overhanging the edge.

Returns and Refunds

How do I return an item?

You have 30 days from the date you receive your order to request a return on eligible items. To start, email us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and the reason for the return, and we will send you the return address and instructions. Items must be unused and in their original packaging.

Do I have to pay for return shipping?

No. On approved returns, we provide a prepaid return shipping label at no cost to you. Please note that a return should never be sent to the manufacturer's address; only to the address our team provides.

I received a damaged or defective item. What should I do?

We are sorry to hear that. If a parcel arrives visibly damaged, please refuse delivery if you can, then contact us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and a photo of the item. We will prioritise your request and arrange a replacement or refund in line with our Refund Policy.

Can I change my mind after ordering?

Yes. If you change your mind within 24 hours of placing your order, before it has been processed, we will refund you right away. After an order has shipped, please follow the standard return process described above.
