The useful brightness of a bedside lamp is not one number. At nine in the evening it needs to light a book, and at two in the morning it needs to be little more than a marker in a dark room, which is why fixed levels are the wrong answer and this lamp has none. The touch control on the wood cap runs the output smoothly across the whole range and stops wherever you lift your finger. What is being dimmed is not a shade but the body itself: a rounded acrylic capsule that lights as a single soft form, with no bright source visible anywhere in it and no glare at any angle, capped by a dome of solid wood. Color temperature is chosen at order, warm 3000K or cool 6000K, and the wood comes in a pale natural tone or a darker walnut. The lamp is small, 20 cm across and 34 cm tall.

What does stepless dimming mean here?

That the light runs smoothly through its whole range instead of jumping between fixed levels. Hold the touch control and the brightness travels from a low glow you can leave on overnight up to enough to read by, and stops wherever you lift your finger.

Is the handle only decorative?

It is the point of the lamp. The battery is built in, so nothing tethers the lamp to the nightstand: lift it by the wood ring and carry it to a hallway, a shelf or a table on a covered terrace, then set it back to charge.

How is it charged?

Over the USB cable supplied. The lamp runs cordless once charged, and you can also leave the cable attached and use it on an outlet, on AC 110 to 240V.

Can I use it outdoors?

Only under cover, and the source rates it IP20 for indoor use, so treat a covered terrace as the limit. Keep it out of rain and away from where it could be splashed.

What is the difference between the two finishes?

Only the wood of the cap and the ring handle. Natural wood is pale and shows the grain plainly. Walnut is darker and reads as a solid brown mass against the lit body. The acrylic capsule is white on both.

A Thick Wood Ring Handle and a Built In Battery That Take the Lamp Off the Table

A handle on a lamp only makes sense if the lamp can leave the outlet, and this one can. The battery is built in and charges over the USB cable supplied, so the thick wood ring rising from the cap is a working grip rather than a detail: lift the lamp by it and carry the same light to a hallway, a bookshelf, a bathroom or a table on a covered terrace, then set it back down to charge. Leave the cable connected instead and it behaves as an ordinary plug-in lamp on AC 110 to 240V. One limit is worth stating plainly: the source rates the lamp IP20 for indoor use, so a covered terrace is as far outside as it should go, away from rain and splashing. How do I return an item?

You have 30 days from the date you receive your order to request a return on eligible items. To start, email us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and the reason for the return, and we will send you the return address and instructions. Items must be unused and in their original packaging.

I received a damaged or defective item. What should I do?
