One Gap, Aimed Where You Want It, Instead of a Glow in Every Direction

A bollard that lights all round looks generous and wastes half of what it makes. Set one against a wall and the wall gets a bright stripe; set one in front of a border and the shrubs behind it get lit from the front, which is the least flattering angle there is. This body has a single vertical gap. You point it at the path when you set the fixture down, and the whole output goes there. Why is the aperture on one side only?

So you can aim it. A body that glows all round sends half its output into the border behind it. One gap, turned toward the path as the fixture is set down, puts the whole of it where people walk.

What are the flutes for?

They break up the daylight reading of a plain metal tube and catch a highlight down one side, which keeps a 31.5 inch cylinder from looking like a pipe standing in the border.

Black or white?

Black disappears into planting and dark paving by day. White reads as a deliberate object against a rendered wall or pale gravel, which suits a formal terrace better than a naturalistic garden.

How does the solar build work?

A panel in the cap charges an internal cell through the day and the light comes on by itself at dusk, so there is no cable to bury, no switch to reach and no wiring to run down a path. How is the wired build fixed down?

A cable comes up under the base and is terminated in a weatherproof connection, then the body is bolted through the base plate. It runs from a common push switch that is not supplied.

Is it made for an exposed coastal garden?

It is rated IP65 against dust and water jets from any side. Do not immerse it. Near the sea, rinse salt off the body two or three times a year so the finish does not dull.

Flutes Down the Body, Which Are There for the Daylight More Than the Night

At night this fixture is a lit gap and a dark cylinder, and the flutes barely register. By day they are the whole difference. A smooth metal tube standing 31.5 inches out of a border reads as a pipe, and no amount of finish quality changes that. Pressed flutes catch a highlight down one side and a shadow down the other, so the same cylinder reads as a made object with depth to it.

Returns and Refunds

How do I return an item?

You have 30 days from the date you receive your order to request a return on eligible items. To start, email us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and the reason for the return, and we will send you the return address and instructions. Items must be unused and in their original packaging.

Do I have to pay for return shipping?

No. On approved returns, we provide a prepaid return shipping label at no cost to you. Please note that a return should never be sent to the manufacturer's address; only to the address our team provides.

I received a damaged or defective item. What should I do?

We are sorry to hear that. If a parcel arrives visibly damaged, please refuse delivery if you can, then contact us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and a photo of the item. We will prioritise your request and arrange a replacement or refund in line with our Refund Policy.

Can I change my mind after ordering?

Yes. If you change your mind within 24 hours of placing your order, before it has been processed, we will refund you right away. After an order has shipped, please follow the standard return process described above.
