Most table lamps are between 25 and 45 cm tall. This one is 68.5 cm, which changes what it does in a room. The column is solid wood, turned to a single long taper that widens toward the foot so the weight stays low, and it carries a cloth drum shade 38.5 cm across. At that height the shade sits close to eye level for anyone seated nearby, so the output crosses the room at head height and lights the space rather than the surface underneath, the way a short floor lamp would. It is a console, sideboard and hall table object rather than a nightstand one, and it wants a surface at least 40 cm deep so the shade is not overhanging an edge. Three finishes are offered at order: natural wood and walnut, both with a white cloth shade, and black with a black shade. How tall is it, really?

68.5 cm, with a shade 38.5 cm across. That is tall for a table lamp and close to a short floor lamp, which is the point: on a console or a sideboard the shade ends up near seated eye level and the light crosses the room instead of pooling on the surface.

How does the dimmer work?

A rotary knob on the lamp. Turning it runs the output smoothly from low up to full with no fixed steps, so the level is set by feel. It is the same knob that switches the lamp on and off, so there is nothing on the cord to find in the dark.

Is a bulb included?

The socket is E26 or E27 and takes either an LED or an Edison bulb. Pick a dimmable bulb if you want the rotary dimmer to do its work: a non dimmable LED on a dimmer can flicker, buzz or refuse to start at low settings.

Which shade comes with which finish?

Natural wood and walnut are supplied with a white cloth shade. The black version is supplied with a black cloth shade. The shade is not chosen separately from the body.

A Rotary Dimmer on the Body and an Open E26 or E27 Socket to Fill Yourself

The control is a rotary knob on the lamp itself, and it does two jobs: it switches the lamp on and it dims it. Turning the knob runs the output smoothly from a low evening level up to full with no fixed steps, so the setting is chosen by feel and there is nothing on the cord to hunt for in the dark. The socket is left open on purpose. It takes a standard E26 or E27 bulb, LED or Edison, and none is supplied, which means the color temperature, the brightness and the look of the filament are all decided by whoever owns the lamp rather than fixed at the factory. One caution that follows from the dimmer: fit a bulb marked dimmable. A non dimmable LED on a rotary dimmer can flicker, buzz or refuse to start at the lower end of the range. For care, the cloth shade takes a soft brush and the wood a barely damp cloth along its length, dried at once.

Returns and Refunds

How do I return an item?

You have 30 days from the date you receive your order to request a return on eligible items. To start, email us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and the reason for the return, and we will send you the return address and instructions. Items must be unused and in their original packaging.

No. On approved returns, we provide a prepaid return shipping label at no cost to you. Please note that a return should never be sent to the manufacturer's address; only to the address our team provides.

I received a damaged or defective item. What should I do?
