Look at how it is held. There is no arm, no bracket casting, no visible screw through the shade. A single sheet of solid wood is folded once so that a front edge stands clear of the wall, and the parchment cone hangs on that edge with a small leather tab fastening it closed. How is the shade attached?

With a leather tab. The wood bracket is folded so it has a front edge standing clear of the wall, and the cone hangs on that edge with a small leather strap holding it closed. Nothing is bolted through the shade, which is why the surface stays unbroken.

Is the shade paper?

It is a parchment style polymer, which looks like parchment and takes light the same way but can be wiped with a barely damp cloth. Real paper in this position would stain from handling and would not survive a wipe.

Where does the light go?

Down and out. The cone is closed at the top and open at the base, so the pool falls below the fitting and the shade itself glows. That suits a dressing table, a desk or a shelf better than it suits a room with no other light.

Which lamp should I use?

An E26 or E27 lamp, not included. A warm 2700K LED or filament lamp keeps the parchment cream. A cool lamp turns it gray and kills the whole effect. Stay inside the wattage marked on the fitting.

How far does it come off the wall?

About 22 cm at the widest part of the cone, since the bracket folds out before the shade starts. That is comfortable above a desk or a dressing table and too much for a narrow corridor.

How do I clean it?

Let the lamp cool. Wipe the shade with a barely damp cloth, working from the top down so no marks run. Wipe the wood bracket along the grain and dry it, and treat the leather tab with a dry cloth only.
