A Bar, a Strap and a Cone, With Nothing Else Added to Hold It Together

Look at how little is happening here. A round plate fixes to the wall, a short wood dowel comes straight out of it, a leather strap goes over the dowel, and the metal cone hangs from the strap on one stud. There is no arm, no cast bracket, no cover plate hiding a joint. Each of the three materials does one job and stays visible while it does it, which is the Scandinavian argument in its plainest form: if a part is not structurally necessary, leave it out rather than styling it. The practical upside is that nothing on the fitting is fragile or fiddly, and the strap is the only part that will show wear, which is exactly the part that is meant to.

How is the shade held?

By a leather strap over the wood bar, fixed with one stud through the side of the cone. There is no bracket and no arm. The strap takes the weight and the bar takes the strap, which is why the fitting reads as three separate materials rather than as one assembly.

Where does the light go?

Down. The cone is closed at the top and open at the base, so the pool falls beneath the fitting onto a nightstand, a console or a desk.

Black or white?

The black shade holds its own on a pale wall and reads as the graphic version, a dark triangle against plaster. The white one nearly disappears and leaves the wood bar and the strap as the thing you notice. Both cost the same.

Which lamp should I use?

An E26 or E27 lamp, not included. A warm 2700K LED or filament lamp suits the wood and the leather. The inside of the shade is pale, so a frosted lamp gives a softer edge to the pool than a clear one.

Can it be dimmed?

It works with a common wall dimmer provided the lamp you fit is a dimmable one. Nothing in the fitting itself limits that, and no dimmer is included.

How do I clean it?

Let the lamp cool. Wipe the metal cone inside and out with a barely damp cloth and dry it. Wipe the wood bar along the grain, and use a dry cloth only on the leather strap.

It Leaves the Nightstand Free, Which Is the Real Reason to Fit One at All

The case for a small wall light beside a bed is not about style, it is about the surface underneath it. A table lamp takes up the part of a nightstand you actually use, the part where a book, a glass and a phone end up competing for space. This cone is 13 cm across and hangs from a bar that projects a short way out of the wall, so the light arrives from above and the table stays empty. At H 22 cm it is small enough not to dominate a narrow strip of wall, and because the beam goes straight down rather than out, a pair either side of a bed will not throw light across a sleeping partner.

Returns and Refunds

How do I return an item?

You have 30 days from the date you receive your order to request a return on eligible items. To start, email us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and the reason for the return, and we will send you the return address and instructions. Items must be unused and in their original packaging.

Do I have to pay for return shipping?

No. On approved returns, we provide a prepaid return shipping label at no cost to you. Please note that a return should never be sent to the manufacturer's address; only to the address our team provides.

I received a damaged or defective item. What should I do?

We are sorry to hear that. If a parcel arrives visibly damaged, please refuse delivery if you can, then contact us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and a photo of the item. We will prioritise your request and arrange a replacement or refund in line with our Refund Policy.

Can I change my mind after ordering?

Yes. If you change your mind within 24 hours of placing your order, before it has been processed, we will refund you right away. After an order has shipped, please follow the standard return process described above.
