The Height Is the Real Feature Here, Even Though It Reads as a Short Lamp

Floor lamps are usually between 58 and 72 inches, because the shade is meant to be above eye level so you never see the bulb. A pharmacy lamp breaks that on purpose. At 51 inches the head is below your eye line when you stand and level with your shoulder when you sit, which is exactly where a light has to be if it is going to put a page in front of you rather than a glow around you. The cost is that it does nothing for the room. Buy it for the chair it stands beside, and light the room with something else.

Does the brightness really adjust?

Plan on a fixed level. This model holds one output, and we would rather tell you that than sell you a line about adjustable brightness. If dimming matters, tell us and we will point you at a model built for it.

Why is it only 51 inches tall?

Because a pharmacy lamp is meant to sit beside you and not above you. At 51 inches the head is level with a seated shoulder, so light reaches the page at an angle instead of dropping on the back of your head.

How far does the head reach?

The whole lamp is 15 inches deep, so the head sits about a foot in front of the stem. That is enough to clear a chair arm and land on a book without the base ending up under your feet.

Which finish for a warm room?

Bronze is the warmest and reads closest to brass under a 3000K bulb. Chrome is the brightest and reflects the room around it. Black disappears against dark furniture, which is often what you want beside a sofa.

What bulb does it take?

An E27 screw base, one included at 10W and about 1000 lumens in warm 3000K. A socket rather than an integrated LED, so you can change the bulb and the color temperature whenever you want.

Is 1000 lumens enough to read by?

Yes, at this distance. The head sits about a foot from the page, and a narrow head concentrates what it has instead of spreading it. It will not light the room, which on a reading lamp is the correct behavior.

A Narrow Head Is a Decision About Contrast, and Not Only About the Styling

Wide shades lift a whole corner and make the page and the wall behind it roughly the same brightness. A narrow head does the opposite: the book is bright and the room stays where it was. Some people find that tiring over a long evening, and some find the wide version washed out and hard to focus in. Which one suits you depends on how dark you keep the rest of the room. If the lamp is the only light on, a wide shade is easier on the eyes. If there is another source across the room, this narrow head is the sharper tool.

How do I return an item?

You have 30 days from the date you receive your order to request a return on eligible items. Items must be unused and in their original packaging.

No. On approved returns, we provide a prepaid return shipping label at no cost to you. Please note that a return should never be sent to the manufacturer's address; only to the address our team provides.
