Is a 57 inch reach too much for a small room?

Often, yes. Fifty seven inches is most of five feet of overhang, which is why this one suits a sofa you want lit from behind, a dining table with no ceiling point, or a corner seat across the room from the socket. In a small bedroom it will hang over the middle of the floor.

Does a metal dome throw enough light for reading?

Downward, yes, and only downward. An open metal dome gives a bright defined circle under it and leaves the rest of the room to other lamps. That works over a chair or a table and poorly as the only light in a living room. Pair it with something that lights a wall if the room has nothing else in it.

How stable is it with that much overhang?

The marble disc is doing real work: 12.5 inches across, two and a half inches thick, about 39 pounds of lamp in total. It stands firm on a hard floor and on a low rug. On a thick shag rug the base can rock, because the pile compresses unevenly under the weight, and a hard mat under the marble fixes that.

Which finish for which room?

Chrome is cool and reflective and suits glass, steel and a gray palette. Brass is warm and suits wood, leather and cream walls. Bronze is the quiet one and disappears against a dark wall. The shade is metal, so whichever you pick becomes a visible object in the room rather than a neutral fabric shape.

Can I dim it?

At the lamp, no. There is a switch on the cord and nothing else. Put a dimmable lamp in the socket and a dimming outlet or plug on the circuit and you can dim the light, but the fitting itself has no dimmer and no driver in it, so anything you gain comes from the parts you add.

Does it come apart for moving?

The stem is in sections and the base separates, which is how it ships and how it should be moved. Carry the marble on its own and the stem on its own. Dragging the assembled lamp by the arc puts all the leverage on the joint where the stem meets the base, and that is the joint people loosen.

How do I return an item?

You have 30 days from the date you receive your order to request a return on eligible items. To start, email us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and the reason for the return, and we will send you the return address and instructions. Items must be unused and in their original packaging.

No. On approved returns, we provide a prepaid return shipping label at no cost to you. Please note that a return should never be sent to the manufacturer's address; only to the address our team provides.

I received a damaged or defective item. What should I do?

We are sorry to hear that. If a parcel arrives visibly damaged, please refuse delivery if you can, then contact us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and a photo of the item. We will prioritise your request and arrange a replacement or refund in line with our Refund Policy.

Can I change my mind after ordering?
