A downward shade lights the floor and leaves the ceiling dark, which is why a room lit by one fixture often feels lower than it is. These shells are turned up. Each one sits open side up at the end of a curved brass arm, so a large share of the output goes onto the plaster and comes back into the room as reflected light. The fluting in the glass does the rest, breaking the beam into fine lines along every rib so the shell itself glows rather than hiding the bulb. The effect is an even, soft room light from a fixture that only drops 30 cm, and a ceiling that reads as high as it actually is.

What is the difference between the three light and six light versions?

Density, not size. Both measure 27.6 in across by 11.8 in high. The three light version leaves wide gaps between the shells and reads as a spare, graphic piece. The six light version fills the same circle with twice the glass and twice the output, which suits a larger room or a ceiling that has to carry the lighting on its own.

Are the shades clear or frosted?

Clear, with a fluted or ribbed surface pressed into the glass. The ribs break the light as it leaves the bulb, so the shell glows along every line rather than showing one flat highlight. Because the glass is clear the bulb itself is visible, which makes the choice of bulb shape part of the design.

Which bulbs suit it?

E26 or E27 screw bulbs in LED or Edison filament form, as the shells are open and the bulb is seen. A clear filament bulb suits the period of the design, a frosted globe softens the point of light if the fixture hangs in a sight line. No bulbs are supplied, so the first set is chosen with the order.

How far does it hang below the ceiling?

11.8 in or 30 cm in every version, including the 90 cm wide eight light. The arms curve up from a central column, which keeps the glass close to the plaster, so a fixture this wide still clears a standard ceiling without crowding the room beneath it.

Can it be installed in a bathroom?

No. The maker rates the fixture IP20, damp rated and not waterproof, for indoor use only. That excludes a bathroom, a shower room and any space where steam reaches the ceiling. Living rooms, dining rooms and bedrooms are the rooms the design is built for.

How much space does the widest version need?

35.4 in or 90 cm across for the eight light. Over a dining table that wants a clear span of table beneath it, and in a living room it wants a ceiling area free of beams and vents. Measure the flat ceiling space around the junction box before ordering that version.

Most fixtures tie the number of bulbs to the diameter: a bigger piece has more light, a smaller one has less. Here the three light and the six light versions are both 27.6 in across, and only the eight light steps up to 35.4 in. That separates two decisions that usually travel together. A room that needs presence but not brightness takes the three light and keeps the gaps between the shells. A room where this fixture is the only source takes the six light at the same width. A large open living or dining space takes the eight light, which adds width as well as output. All three hang 30 cm below the ceiling.

Returns and Refunds

How do I return an item?

You have 30 days from the date you receive your order to request a return on eligible items. To start, email us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and the reason for the return, and we will send you the return address and instructions. Items must be unused and in their original packaging.

Do I have to pay for return shipping?

No. On approved returns, we provide a prepaid return shipping label at no cost to you. Please note that a return should never be sent to the manufacturer's address; only to the address our team provides.

I received a damaged or defective item. What should I do?

We are sorry to hear that. If a parcel arrives visibly damaged, please refuse delivery if you can, then contact us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and a photo of the item. We will prioritise your request and arrange a replacement or refund in line with our Refund Policy.

Can I change my mind after ordering?

Yes. If you change your mind within 24 hours of placing your order, before it has been processed, we will refund you right away. After an order has shipped, please follow the standard return process described above.
