Two Half Discs Held Apart by a Brass Hub, So the Light Leaves Through the Gap
Most shades are a single volume with a hole at the bottom. This one is a flat glass disc 15.7 inches across, cut in half, with the two pieces held apart by a brass hub and hung from a thin triangular frame. The lamp sits in the hub, so light leaves sideways through the slot between the halves and the glass itself glows from the edge inward. Seen flat it is a full circle on the wall; seen from the side it almost disappears.
