The Source Hides Behind the Center Bar, So Nothing Bright Ever Faces the Room

The reason most wall lights fail beside a bed is the eyeline. A shaded fitting at that height puts a bright edge exactly where someone lying down is looking, and a downlight drops a hot circle on the pillow. This one has nothing to look at. Two wood wings curve forward off the plate and almost meet, a slim metal bar stands in the gap, and the LED sits behind the bar facing inward. What leaves the fitting has already bounced off the inside of the wings, so it comes out soft, through the slot and past the top and bottom edges. From the bed you see a warm line and lit plaster. From standing height you see a wood object with a glow behind it, and still no lamp.

Why does it suit a bedside?

Because there is nothing bright to look at. The source sits behind the center bar, between two curved wings, so a person lying down sees lit wall and a warm line rather than a lens. Add the pull chain and the lamp is switched off from the pillow instead of from the door.

Is it waterproof or damp rated?

The detail table says the IP20 rating covers bathrooms, kitchens and covered outdoor areas, which IP20 does not. IP20 means no protection against water at all. We print this as an indoor fitting and nothing else.

How much light does it give?

About 5W worth, which is accent light. It washes the plaster above and below itself and lifts a corner or a headboard, and it will not light a room. Plan other lighting and let this one do the quiet job.

Is there a bulb to buy?

The LED is integrated at a warm 3000K, which is what allows the source to sit that deep behind the bar. Nothing is ordered separately and nothing is swapped later.

Which center bar do I get, black or brass?

That is the one thing we are checking. The detail table names two finishes and the photography shows both, while the order options cover only the wood tone.

How do I clean it?

Let it cool. Dust the curved wings with a soft brush, working across the grain of the curve, then wipe along the grain with a barely damp cloth. Dust inside the slot carefully, since the recess behind the bar collects it.

Nine Centimeters Deep and Twenty Three Tall, Which Is the Whole Argument

Above a bed the wall is already crowded: a headboard, pillows stacked against it, often a picture or a run of panels. A sconce that stands fifteen or twenty centimeters out has to clear all of that or be mounted so high the light misses. You have 30 days from the date you receive your order to request a return on eligible items. No. On approved returns, we provide a prepaid return shipping label at no cost to you. Please note that a return should never be sent to the manufacturer's address; only to the address our team provides.

I received a damaged or defective item. What should I do?

We are sorry to hear that. If a parcel arrives visibly damaged, please refuse delivery if you can, then contact us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and a photo of the item. We will prioritise your request and arrange a replacement or refund in line with our Refund Policy.
