What bulb does it take?

A standard E26 or E27 base, LED or Edison filament, not included. The shade is wide and shallow, so the bulb sits partly in view. A clear filament bulb reads as decoration; a frosted one gives a softer light.

Can the shade be angled?

Yes. The brass knuckle joint where the arm meets the backplate lets the shade be tipped up or down, which moves the pool of light closer to the wall or further out into the room.

Does it have its own switch?

It is hardwired and takes its control from the circuit, so a wall switch or dimmer is needed. Neither is supplied with the fitting.

How far does it stand off the wall?

The whole fitting is 19 cm tall and the shade is 20 cm across, so it reads as a compact piece rather than a swing arm. It suits a hallway, a stair wall or the space above a desk where a deeper fitting would be in the way.

Will the walnut match my furniture?

The Knuckle Joint, a Bare E26 Socket, and Why the Bulb Choice Changes Everything

Two details decide how this fitting behaves in a room. The first is the brass knuckle joint at the backplate: loosen it and the shade tips, which moves the pool of light up the wall or out into the room, so the same sconce can graze a picture or light a desk. The second is the socket. It is a plain E26 or E27 with no bulb supplied, and because the shade is wide and shallow the bulb is partly in view from below. A frosted or opal bulb disappears under the shade and gives an even wash instead. Neither is more correct; they are two different fittings sharing one body, and the choice is made at the bulb shelf.

Returns and Refunds

How do I return an item?

You have 30 days from the date you receive your order to request a return on eligible items. To start, email us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and the reason for the return, and we will send you the return address and instructions. Items must be unused and in their original packaging.

No. On approved returns, we provide a prepaid return shipping label at no cost to you. Please note that a return should never be sent to the manufacturer's address; only to the address our team provides.

I received a damaged or defective item. What should I do?

We are sorry to hear that. If a parcel arrives visibly damaged, please refuse delivery if you can, then contact us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and a photo of the item. We will prioritise your request and arrange a replacement or refund in line with our Refund Policy.
