Close view of the brass leaves and two frosted glass globes

Sixteen separate globes on branching stems, which is a different shape from a tiered chandelier

A tiered chandelier stacks rings of light, and from below it reads as a series of horizontal lines. This one does not stack anything. The brass stems branch outward and downward from one canopy, each ending in a single frosted globe, so the lit points sit at sixteen different heights with no two on the same plane. Seen from the bottom of a staircase the effect is closer to a climbing plant than to a fixture, which is why the maker points it at stairwells and double height entries rather than at flat ceilings. The brass leaves along the stems do the same job as the globes, catching light on their upper faces and leaving shadow underneath.

Questions about this product

Everything you need to know about this product.

How far does it drop?

51.2 in or 130 cm from the canopy to the lowest globe, across a width of 19.7 in or 50 cm. That is a stairwell proportion rather than a room proportion. Over a dining table it needs a ceiling well above the standard height, and in a stairwell it is meant to be seen from two floors at once.

How many bulbs and which base?

Sixteen, one for each glass globe, all on G9 sockets. The maker describes the capsules as replaceable and lists 3000K warm white as the temperature. G9 is the small two pin base used across decorative lighting and it does not accept E26 or E27 screw bulbs, so check what your local shops stock.

Can the light count be changed?

Yes. The maker builds this model to order and will change the light count, the cable lengths, the canopy size and the drop. Send us the ceiling height and a photograph of the space and we will pass the request on for a drop plan before you order anything.

What do the globes look like unlit?

Frosted and textured rather than clear, with a surface that catches light during the day. Each one is shaped like a small fruit and sits at the end of its own stem, which is where the fixture gets its name. Unlit the piece reads as brass branches carrying pale glass, which is most of its presence in a daylit stairwell.

Is it suitable for a covered porch?

No. The maker rates the fixture for indoor use only, so an outdoor location is outside what it is built for, covered or not. Moving air, cold and moisture all reach a porch, and none of the three suit a hardwired fixture with sixteen open glass globes on brass stems.

What does installation need?

A standard ceiling box, hardwiring and hardware rated for the weight of a fixture this size. The maker expects a licensed electrician to make the connection, with the power switched off at the breaker. In a stairwell, plan the access equipment before the delivery arrives rather than after.

Brass branch chandelier lit above a staircase beside a console table

A hundred and thirty centimeters of drop, which only a few rooms in a house can take

Most decorative ceiling fixtures are sized for a room with a standard ceiling, where anything past 40 cm of drop starts to crowd the people underneath. This one is built for the opposite situation. At 130 cm it is designed to hang into the open volume of a stairwell or a double height entry, where there is nothing below it and where it can be read from two floors at once. Over a dining table it works only where the ceiling is high enough to leave clearance above the heads at the table. If the drop is wrong for your room the maker will rebuild it: light count, cable length, canopy size and overall drop are all made to order, and a photograph of the space is enough to start.
