Pendant Lights & Chandeliers

Pendant Lights & Chandeliers

A pendant is one fixture on one drop, sized to the surface below it. A chandelier is a frame carrying several lamps at once, sized to the room: add the room length and width in feet and read the total as inches. Over a dining table, both hang 30 to 34 inches above the tabletop.

  • Pendant: one source over one spot, shade about half the table width or a third of the island depth
  • Chandelier: diameter in inches equals room length plus width in feet
  • Height over a table: 30 to 34 inches from the tabletop to the lowest point
