Ceiling lights fill a room evenly from overhead, in flush mount, semi flush and low profile shapes. Size the diameter by adding the room length and width in feet and reading the total as inches, so a 12 by 14 foot bedroom takes about 26 inches. Flush mounts suit ceilings under eight feet.

  • Diameter: room length plus width in feet, read as inches
  • Depth: 4 to 8 inches for a flush mount, 8 to 20 inches of drop for a semi flush
  • Clearance: at least 7 feet from the floor to the lowest point in any walking path
