Under it the base is a tall cone of wood veneer laid in a herringbone pattern, so the grain runs diagonally in alternating bands and the cone reads as woven rather than turned. It is a large piece, 60 cm across and 60 cm tall, made to sit on a console or a low table where it can be seen in full.
