Each lobe is woven separately and the tiers overlap, which is what produces the deep shadows along the shade and the bands of light that escape between them. The weave is open enough to glow from within and dense enough to keep the form, and the hand knitting means no two shades carry the same pattern. Three finishes change the mood more than the shape does: the natural tones stay quiet, the brown reads warmer and heavier against a pale ceiling.
