An integrated LED behind a diffusing panel lights the whole surface evenly, so there is no bright point to look at from a chair. Is 3000 lumens bright enough for outdoors? For most domestic purposes it is more than enough, and often too much. A wall lantern beside a front door works at 400 to 800 lumens. A pair flanking a garage door works at 800 to 1,200 each. A path light needs 50 to 150. 3,000 lumens is flood light territory, suited to lighting a driveway, a facade or a work area, and used on a wall fixture at head height it produces glare rather than visibility. The useful question outdoors is where the light lands, since the eye adapts to darkness and small amounts go further than indoors. How much does a modern outdoor light cost on this page? Warm, in almost every residential case: 2700K or 3000K. Warm light flatters brick, timber and planting, reads as domestic from the street, and attracts measurably fewer flying insects than cooler light. Cool white above 4000K is a commercial and security choice, and on a house facade it reads as a parking lot. The one thing worth more than the figure is consistency, since two different temperatures along one facade is the most visible lighting error on a building.
